One Day at a Time 

I am closer to finding where the grass grows greener,

Where the drama and bad karma go from fat to leaner.

I work daily on a smoother path for me,

To ease through this sometimes harsh hashtag planet three.

“Building a better me...”  

One day at a time.

One day, now I’m

Not aching for the future,

Not dwelling in the past.

I’m living now and how.

Please take me back in time,

To be a better lover, better brother, undo that crime.

I had dreams, real big plans, some talent too,

But my need for control forever smashed right through.

He escaped the daily drudgery with addictive distraction,

Yet it returned daily until an inner purification caused a polar reaction.

So much time I have wasted with worry,

Which only served to make my inner vision blurry.

I found positive thoughts can easily clean any grime,

And I do my best living just one day at a time.
